Stonewall ChampionsFor our guild tabard, Champions of Stonewall has chosen the Octopus on a purple background. The symbol of both the animal and the color are historic and profound. Diverse and impressive, the Octopus is a traditional symbol of intelligence, diversity, potential, and complexity. All of which encompass who and what our guild represents. Less known today than the rainbow flag, which was created by Gilbert Baker in 1978, the color purple has long been a traditional color representing the LGBT community. Even the NAZI's during WWII used both pink and purple triangles to label victims of the Holocaust as Homosexual. We have worn the color proudly and in obstinate solidarity ever since. It is the color of royalty and of martyrs signifying that the lowest among us are often deserving of being the highest.
